Who’s going to be there?
A line up of cardiology heavy weights! First Professor Amal Mattu whose relentless teaching of cardiology has earnt him numerous awards including the national educator of the year award and in 2013 ACEP’s highest honour for teaching, the “outstanding contributions to education award”. If you’ve never heard of Amal Mattu (who are you and do you have a medical degree?) or can’t make the conference then check out his website ECGWeekly.com.
Next up is Professor David McGiffin who is director of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Alfred and his work interests are ventricular assist devices, the appropriate use of ECMO and pulmonary thrombectomy. Dr Dion Stub who has worked internationally, has a huge interest in the care of the arrested patient both in hospital and pre-hospital. Dr Zeff Koutsogiannis, well-known toxicologist at the Austin who has a unique take on cardiac toxins which is entertaining and memorable.
And presiding over the two day course is Dr Lucia Le-Kim, Emergency Physician at Western Health and Dr Gautam Vaddadi, Consultant Cardiologist at the Alfred and Northern Health, who make sure that the speakers stay on track and give the deciding vote on any controversies.
