Emergency Medicine Cases FOAMed

The cost of free can be significant, and it is a perennial point of discussion to determine how altruistic medical educationalists can continue to fund their FOAMed activities.

Until recently this was a battle that Anton Helman and the team from Emergency Medicine Cases faced. Hundreds of hours of resources as well as production and hosting costs had to be partially recouped with a subscription based model of education provision.

However, thanks to some awesome benefactors the good news is…(and this is not an April Fools Joke), that ALL the EM Cases archives of EM Cases and ALL future EM Cases podcasts will be FOAMed – with free online open access to all the fantastic medical education material from April 1st 2014.

We are grateful to North York General Hospital, Mount Sinai Hospital and the Schwartz-Reisman Emergency Medicine Institute (SREMI) for their support in helping us make EM Cases a universally accessible educational resource into the future

- Anton Helman

Onwards and upwards for the EM Cases podcast, now in it’s fourth year ‘on the air‘, with over half a million audio downloads.

Thanks so much for your support Mike. We are really excited about joining the FOAMed community. I am amazed by the ever increasing quality of online EM education, and hope that our move will inspire others to do the same. Anton
