- Consider the possibility of occult physical causes of crying including NAI/ neglect and feeding difficulty.— a directed physical and developmental assessment was required
- A directed history re crying + any associated symptoms
- Consider that the presentation may be failure to cope (including post natal depression)
- Low threshold for admission to assess/ maternal respite
- Suitable follow up if discharged
- Features of unsuccessful answers
- Failure to consider both physical illness and social issues as above as possible causes for the presentation.
