Dr Finnbarr Walsh In Memoriam

Dr Finnbarr Walsh

Dr Finnbarr Keenan Matthew Thomas WALSH

[31.05.1975 - 20.08.2010]

Finnbarr was a wonderful man, a faithful friend and an amazing doctor.

It is humbling to see how many lives he touched.

Kind, compassionate and generous beyond compare, Finn truly was a gentleman and a scholar.

Gone from this earth, but not from our minds – you will live on in our hearts, our thoughts and prayers.

Rest in Peace dear Finn, free from the troubles of this mortal coil….you will be sadly missed.

Those of you who knew Finn well are sure to recall his admiration for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). It is therefore Finn’s family’s wish (and we’re sure Finn would agree) that instead of flowers or tributes, any money that you would have spent on such items be donated to MSF. If you would like to pay your respects or honor Finn’s life please make a donation in Finnbarr’s name, to Médecins Sans Frontières

Mike, I’m very sorry for your loss. May he rest in peace.

  2. A memory of working with Finnbarr:

We were working the night shift together. An arrest call went out from the ambulance bay. A patient had stopped breathing. I ran out there and started bagging the patient and got the story on the way to resus. The patient had been intoxicated, had an altercation and kicked a car door. He’d dislocated his patella in the process and was in considerable pain. He was given fentanyl en route to the hospital -- perhaps a little too much… I told Finnbarr the story as I arrived in resus, still bagging the patient. Ever the quick thinker (even at 2 in the morning), Finnbarr grabbed the patient’s leg and pulled it straight without any hesitation. The patella popped back into place and the patient sat up -- a loud expletive echoed around the department. Two birds, one stone… patient sorted!

    RIP mate.
