It is an honor to be nominated for an award at the 2009 Medical Weblog Awards hosted by Medgadget and sponsored by Epocrates. Voting starts Jan 27 2010 and closes Feb 14 2010.
Once again there are some exceptional blogs that made it to this years final short list (and some still on the long list…). I hope the repetition of this list will generate more readers to these fabulous blogs and inspire the authors to continue to write, explore and educate using the medium presented by the Blogosphere.
It has been a very tough blogging year for us since our our success at the 2008 Medical Weblog Awards, and this nomination is the inspiration we all needed to continue to expand and progress our Medical Weblog. 2009 heralded extensive changes to the blog including:
- Changing domain name to lifeinthefastlane.com with the collapse of medbrains.net led to the loss of DMOZ listing; loss of RSS subscribers; loss of blog status and being shunned by both Google and Technorati. However, thanks to the support of the medical blogging community, there is some hope that we made be re-instated as a blog sometime in 2010
- Expansion of the physician writing team has provided a wider range of clinical cases and blogging ideas, and re-kindled the educational ethos of the blog.
- 2009 saw the birth of the Utopian College of Emergency for Medicine
