this stems from the classic House of God rule #10:
“IF YOU DON’T TAKE A TEMPERATURE, YOU CAN’T FIND A FEVER.”

A particular example:

If you test enough healthy people, a handful will have K+ of 3.2. Big whoop! I hate when a nurse suggest I fix that in an otherwise healthy person. I’m going to refer the patient to Dr. Kidney to sort that out.
