    • Examiners expected that a good answer to this question would include a discussion on the value or otherwise of important factors that would be considered on history, examination and investigation. These factors could be discussed by alluding to the content of the NEXUS and Canadian C Spine rules, and then going to discuss the merits of plain radiology and CT scanning in this setting.
  • Features of unsuccessful answers
    • A common feature of failing answers was simply describing how the spine could be cleared without making any attempt to attach a relevance or weighting to each factor.
