Death by caffeine

I’ve recently discovered a web-based resource that is sure to become an indispensable part of every emergency doctor’s toxicological armamentarium.

Unless you prefer blissful ignorance, you will want to know the answer to this question:

How much of your favorite energy drink, soda, or caffeinated food would it take to kill you?

Find out at ‘Death by caffeine‘ (try the Australia & New Zealand version here). There is also a nice summary of the evidence for the risks and benefits of medicine at Science-based Medicine: Energy Drinks.

Remember, it’s not too late to cut back…. and remember ‘Tired Doctors tend to drink more coffee.
