Calling all Aussie Doctors

multimedix Calling all Aussie Doctors

Multimedix is a secure, online community for registered Australian medical practitioners. MultiMedix.com.au is the first social and professional networking website designed for Australian physicians and has just been launched by Dr Stephen Barnett a GP practising in Bowral, NSW.

The site is designed to allow doctors to search the database for friends, colleagues and contacts; let them discuss interesting cases or ask clinical questions in a secure forum-like setting; and to allow them to form special interest groups with like-minded colleagues. Dr Barnett’s aim is to have doctors from across Australia join and use the site for both professional and social use and is hoping for 5,000-10,000 doctors will join the site in its first 18 months. The site is free to doctors, who sign up for the service online by entering their medical registration details.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the Australian physician community to join forces and collaborate in an efficacious manner and take control of the technology that has until now appeared to difficult to master. This is not a ‘facebook for grown ups’ this is our chance to create an interactive community that can really make a difference!

Another way to support the Australian physician community is to read and review posts and commentary by Aussie MedBloggers and take part in the first Aussie MedBlog awards hosted by AppleQuack and SitePoint.com.

As with other physician networks such as Sermo – patient confidentiality is paramount and in order to access the service you MUST BE a practicing Australian physician. You are required to submit your medical registration number which will be verified before you are issued a password. You will also be asked to submit professional contact details which may also be checked before you account is enabled.
